Having heard about what Hearts Under Fire, YAWA and Heights got up to at Download 2010 we thought it was time to pass the reins over to This Is Divine. 

Where do you even start with something like Download Festival? Easily one of the biggest things we’ll all do in our lives and not easy to sum the feelings up in a blog! The whole experience of RBBJ was pretty emotional overall and when it eventually came down to the bands being announced over a period of 2 hours the nerves really set in!

Luckily for us the judges enjoyed what they saw/heard so after playing with Shadows Chasing Ghosts and the mighty Vanna on the Tuesday we were off on our travels to Donington park! (Which to Jamie’s surprise isn’t actually in Donington.)
 
Upon arrival we were greeted by a LOT of very friendly people and after wrestling with our tent for about an hour or so we tottered off to soak up the sun and good atmosphere before heading over to the Red Bull tent! A few of us went to see 36 Crazyfists, the others A Day To Remember before catching the end of Taylor Hawkins set and meeting a few of the other RBBJ bands we had been chosen to play these festivals with! The evening and night consisted of Killswitch Engage, Devil Sold His Soul, BBQs with Don Broco and AC/DC. So in short… Friday was awesome and definitely the perfect way to get us settled into the festival mood and gear us up for tomorrows performance!

Waking up on the Saturday was a groggy experience for everyone who suffered the bellows of our South African neighbour who spent her night drinking and yelling Hell Bells as loud as she could. Our nerves and excitement for what was about to happen soon overcame this. Once given our times to be at the stage for and ready to play we all decided to go off and see the bands we wanted to check out and meet up for set up and line check before playing.
 
We were quite literally speechless after playing (which doesn’t happen often let me assure you), a definite sense of achievement. Trying to type the mood out for you guys is actually very hard as not a lot can describe it! We are truly grateful for the opportunity and overwhelmed by the whole experience so thank you all!

Once everyone’s nerves had settled we all came together for Deftones, 30 Seconds To Mars and RATM… All of whom were amazing to watch (especially Deftones… Sorry to all the RATM fans) and finished the night off with beers and amazingly strange “would you rather…” questions for each other including
 
“Would you rather have all 4 limbs made of biscuits, but you can’t eat them as you can feel pain in them and they function as your proper limbs do… Or have you ears where your eyes are and your eyes where your ears are?”
 
Sunday we saw August Burns Red and Whitechapel and retreated home away from the wet!
 
Again a serious, serious thanks to everyone who helped us get this far the whole experience has been amazing! See you at the other festivals!
