So, after an amazing few months, we'd like to thank every single band and fan who got inolved with this stage of RBBJ. This year's season has been the biggest ever by a huge distance, and it's down to every single one of you.

Of course, we couldn't select every band and someone had to miss out, but rest assured the standard of the bands was noted by the judges.

We are also very excited to confirm that RBBJ will return in 2011!

The exact details and dates are stil to be decided, but stay in touch across the summer, shout on Facebook and Twitter
and come say "Hi" at the festivals.

We'll also let bands know when they can get involved again through this site, Facebook and Twitter.

Hi all,
For anyone still questioning the result or the ages of our festival acts, we've posted a blog explaining all right here

This is so hilaro!! People are so grumpy!! Can't wait for HUF....don't hate, congratulate!

hellybelly82 (wrote 13 weeks 1 day ago)

picture at the top is a bit of a giveaway

olsweateye (wrote 13 weeks 1 day ago)

In all fairness, I didn't know that HUF got a new member, she may well be 19 for all I know in that case.

danisrocking (wrote 13 weeks 1 day ago)

What happened to innocent untill proven guilty? As far as I can tell, the only evidence against them seems to be a friend of someone who played with the band.. once. Yet everyone seems so quick in condemning them based on this quite shoddy 'proof'.

This has gotten totally out of hand and the only real reason I can see is that people are looking for an excuse as to why their band wasn't selected. Why not just cool down and respectly congratulate them like civilized people?

Bigdave366 (wrote 13 weeks 2 days ago)

people need to chill out. Its done... stop moaning.

They're playing download good on em! Now stop being SO immature

Shots26 (wrote 13 weeks 2 days ago)

I dont think anyone is bitter any band got through its the manner in which the final was dealt with. A competition like this has to be handled properly, one group was thrown out for apparantly breaking the rules. If someone belives that a rule has been broken then they are quite entitled to raise a question and as you can clearly see a lot of people have done exactly that, on various issues.

The organisers have had an opportunity to put right everyones thoughts on here but have not chosen to do so which is sad and thats why a lot of things have been said.

Lets hope for all of us that it is put to bed and we can all get on with supporting our respective bands but until there is a categoric its right or its wrong it will continue. What you have to remember is that all online competitions are governed by another body and that they make sure the rules are correct and abided by.

I do so hope that it doesnt come out afterwards that rules were broken as that will have stopped a band having a rightful place in a festival. Other than that I want to wish all the bands good luck!

hellybelly82 (wrote 13 weeks 2 days ago)

I don't really think there is any need to get watchdog involved whoever said that. Going slightly overboard I think. Yes it's a shame some bands didn't get through and there does seem to be some confusion over the rules but if Mary's passport and birth certifcate says she is 19, then she IS 19. Get over it, I don't care if your friends friends toured with them etc. Why can't everyone just congratulate all the bands. And if your fave band didn't get through, tough shit, deal with it. If there really that good, they'll make it. One plus is this compettio has given the bands involved a much bigger fan base. Now can everyone just shut up and if there has been any rules broken red bull will deal with it. Well done to all the bands and if you've seen hearts under fire live you'll know they deserve it.

hellybelly82 (wrote 13 weeks 2 days ago)

I second what I've said before well done hearts under fire, sorry everyone is so bitter you got through.

hearts under fire (wrote 13 weeks 2 days ago)

hey guys,

sorry to hear that everyone is still arguing over this. we can assure you, as can anyone who knows mary that she's 19 years old, red bull will be confirming this.

thanks for the concern.

lexi

hearts under fire (wrote 13 weeks 2 days ago)

We have Marys passport and birth certificates that do in fact prove she is 19, so to say that you are certain we are all 20, i am afraid is just not true. Sorry for this confusion.

olsweateye (wrote 13 weeks 2 days ago)

Regardless of what Hearts under fire MAY show you, I know for fact that they ARE over 20, having friends that have played with them and even toured with them.
Poor show Red bull.
I don't particularly care that you've chosen them, I just think its a bit out of order that you kicked out a band for being over 19, for a band that are all over 20.

banita.mistry (wrote 13 weeks 2 days ago)

Ref: Red Bull Bedroom Jam (the " Project)

I am writing in reference to the entrance requirements for the above Project, where it has been bought to my attention that a particular Band has entered the competition and has progressed as the Wild Card Entry despite being in breach of these requirements . The band are called "Hearts Under Fire".

The concern I have is that under the terms and condition for this project it states: "at least one member of act must be aged 19 or under on 7th June 2010". However all the band members of "Hearts Under Fire" are over 20 years old.

Furthermore, I appreciate that the main focus of this project was the bands themselves and their music. With that in mind please consider that the successful six bands, which have entered have worked extremely hard , and have been successful in the Buzz Chart and Festival Chart, they have received over 3000 views and over a page of comments from their fans and well wishers. "Hearts Under Fire" , however, in addition to breaching the entry rules have been unsuccessful in getting through the Buzz Chart and Festival Chart, only received 216 views, and not even one page of comments from their fans.

To conclude, In the interests of fairness and the interest of the fans I would like you to further examine the entry "Hearts Under Fire" and determine if they should still qualify as the Wild Card Entry Band or if this opportunity should go to another band who have worked harder, have a broader and more established fan base and are worthy of this event and whose music and recognition will do justice to the highly prestigious reputation of Red Bull Redbull Jam.

Please do not hesitate to contact me me for further information and I wish to note that a personal favourite of mine and a worthy replacement would be the band Lecarla who also have a part female line up. I wish them all the best for a fantastic career ahead.

hearts under fire (wrote 13 weeks 2 days ago)

hey guys, We can assure you that Mary is in fact 19.. we will be sending red bull proof that she is!

sorry for the confusion

Hears Under Fire

Just being doing more research into this band and have found out that 3 out of the 4 members are OVER 19
Lexi - Jan 1989
Steph - June 1988
Nicky - Feb 1988
Steph - No date of birth
and its funny how they dont show the age of the 4th girl which means they are lying about the age of the band.

I fell this is unfair to all the other bands that have got people at the correct age and havent had the chance to go through to play at this festival.

Can you please relook at the entry and ages of all the band involved.

LostWithoutCause (wrote 13 weeks 2 days ago)

glad that people agree with me over the age thing.
its the most important rule on this site.. yet it has been ignored?!

my band were doing pretty well in the charts.. but after i checked with the admin of the site... who said that one needed to be 19 or under... we ceased all promotional activities to get our ratings up..

we backed down... but it seems some people fancied risking it.. and it payed off!

cheaters prosper!
hurrah for law and order :/

mlb (wrote 13 weeks 2 days ago)

I have been following several bands on your site including Silent Decent, Lecarla and They Sink ships, I understand that it is not your choice who gets picked and is down to the judges vote but I was very shocked and a little upset after seeing there 3 bands work so hard and not get picked. I am writing to you as it has been bought to be attention that a few of the bands that did go through have broken the very first rule of your competition -

In addition, at least one member of each Act must be aged 19 or under on 7 June 2010.

The main band that I know for a fact are all in their twenties is your wild card band, Hearts under Fire!! I really hope that action will be taken immediately and another worthy band get the opportunity to take their rightful place on the stage at these amazing festivals. In all the bigger television competitions like Pop idol and Popstars the rivals if a contestant was found to be over the age limit they were immediately disqualified and I do not see how this would be any different. I only hope that you do the right thing and that I can maybe see one of favourite 3 bands above get the opportunity of a life time.

david_j (wrote 13 weeks 2 days ago)

The ONLY reason that this "Wild Card" cop out position was created was because Lost on Landing were disqualified for break the rules, non of their members were 19 or under.

If this rule applies for one then it should apply to all. Hearts under fire are all in their 20's!

The fact of the matter is that a lot of blood, sweat and tears went into the competition from ALL the bands that got to the top of the Buzz chart and battled to hold a top 10 spot in Festival chart. One of them should be picked!

My favourites were They Sink Ships and Lecarla. Here is an interested FACT for you-

Hearts under fire official video uploaded to Youtube 5th April 2010- Only 5,753 views.

Lecarla official music video uploaded to youtube 17th May 2010- 21,034 views!

Go figure!

crash pilot (wrote 13 weeks 2 days ago)

@Smithers just so u no No Mean City and Hearts under fire are def not metal....LoL

NO MEAN CITY ARE JUST AWESOME!!!!! I WANNA ROCK OUT WITH THEM FOR EVER IN MY UNDERWEAR!!!!

cardinalchazmcbell (wrote 13 weeks 2 days ago)

I can't believe people are still crashing on about this. Let it die!

What's done is done. If the band you supported really are good enough, then I look forward to seeing them at Download/Sonisphere in the future.

Yes, Lecarla truly are an awesome band. The Detours should have got a spot. But I believe they're easily good enough to make it without winning RBBJ.

What's more - the bands that did get through only get a 20-minute set at Download! For some bands, that's 3 songs (after months of work, is that enough?!).

Now, for whoever's going to Download; I recommend you check out Silent Descent - headlining Thursday night in The End Tent Stage. The bill says they'll be on for 45 minutes. See you there.

P.S: To YAWA... GET IN!!! Love you guys!

kingofaddersblack (wrote 13 weeks 2 days ago)

"The Festival Stage

Each band that plays a Live Show is taken off the Buzz Chart and added to the Festival Chart. This chart works in exactly the same way as the Buzz Chart measuring the hype, talk and activity around your band.

On 7th June the band at the top of the Festival Chart will be confirmed to play on the Red Bull Bedroom Jam stage at Download, T In The Park, Underage Festival, Hevy Festival and maybe more! Of course, the final bands to join the Festival Buzz Chart will be at no less an advantage as hype is measured in real time.

They'll be joined by six other bands selected from the rest of the Festival Chart, and one Wild Card band from the rest of the site, by our esteemed panel of judges (see below). These band will also play at all of the above festivals."

please take special note of "six other bands selected from the rest of the Festival Chart"

see the lack of the word buzz there? the festival BUZZ chart (the top 10) is different to the festival chart as a whole (all bands who got through round 1)
and this is where your argument ultimately falls apart

what happened was exactly what they said would happen
you are wrong and yes...silly

stop it now, its getting boring mate

Shots26 (wrote 13 weeks 2 days ago)

Making a real point yes, silly no

hellybelly82 (wrote 13 weeks 2 days ago)

agreed it's getting very silly on here now, get over it!!!

kingofaddersblack (wrote 13 weeks 2 days ago)

OFCOM?
watchdog?

are you people being serious?

the rules were VERY clear, you just misinterpreted them

your band didn't get through? your favourite band didn't get through? take it on the chin and get over it, you are making yourselves look silly

PigeonJon (wrote 13 weeks 2 days ago)

Some of the comments on here are pathetic. You got beat, deal with it.

Well done to all the bands who got through!

Shots26 (wrote 13 weeks 2 days ago)

Perhaps Watchdog will be interested in this whole affair?

billythebear (wrote 13 weeks 2 days ago)

If you want to see a great video then type in lecarla dilligaf on you tube its amazing. Just look what the fans are missing out on.

olsweateye (wrote 13 weeks 2 days ago)

The best part is, none of hearts under fire are under 19 hahaha.

Shots26 (wrote 13 weeks 3 days ago)

VanessaMD you are so right. It is clear that some bands who got through did not have anyone pushing and voting for them as they were in the bottom 6 of the festival chart. Did they guess or did they know something? OFCOM say this competiton is regulated by the organisation CONSUMER DIRECT and that that the rules had to be clear, unambiguous and not open to interpretation.

The level of complaint on here is an indication of the dissatisfaction.

Good luck to the bands who did get through

Smithers (wrote 13 weeks 3 days ago)

Do the judges realise that no one outwith Download will watch these bands play because they are pure metal? How can these talentless, ugly screamers play at the same festival as the likes of Eminem, Muse and Jay-Z??

Hypnosis Fun (wrote 13 weeks 3 days ago)

Congratulations to Sacred Betrayal

WOHOOOOOOOOO!!!! I <3 NO MEAN CITY!

ianzebub (wrote 13 weeks 3 days ago)

congratulations to all the bands getting through!

and well done the bands in the final 10 of the buzz chart + 16 in the festival chart, you all done awesome.

also well done to the fans, the backing you had for the bands was phenomenal. special thanks to our fans too that got us where we are.. this'll never go forgotten!

LostWithoutCause (wrote 13 weeks 3 days ago)

Quote from the rules....

"c. Who can take part?

Any UK or Ireland-based band can enter as long as they have at least one member who will be aged 19 or under on 7 June 2010."

You may wanna double check the ages of some of these winners!

hellybelly82 (wrote 13 weeks 3 days ago)

Yes it does seem all the hard work people put in to keep there fave bands at the top of the festival chart as been a waste of time. I completly agree, what's the point??? However if you've bought tickets to Download on the hope you'll be seeing bands that haven't been confirmed your just setting yourself up for dissapointment.

vanessamd (wrote 13 weeks 3 days ago)

Ahh, what people BELIEVED this competition was about, that is the point. Maybe, legally (and reading the small print of the terms and conditions) it is in fact true that the judges could select whichever band they wished from the festival chart, and latterly with the addition of a complete wild card from anywhere on the site.

However, for months and months, thousands of fans have laboured under the IMPRESSION that hype, popularity, star ratings, buzz, call it what you like, will keep their favourite bands if not top then, at the very least, high in the festival Chart. The wording IMPLIES that this is all very important, because it will give their favourite bands high ratings and this IMPLIES that position in the chart will influence selection for the festivals.

It would have been far more honest if the organisers had simply said that buzz and popularity gets you to the top of the Buzz Chart to play the live show. After that, the bands might as well have remained dormant and done absolutely nothing to generate support, as it appears to have been entirely unnecessary. The MONTHS (since the winter for some) of promoting, leafleting, e-mailing, corresponding, and working so hard to engender buzz (which actually has resulted in a massive amount of support and indeed world-wide interest, so it has been of some value outside of this competition I suppose) appears to have played no part at all in the process.

The wording of the rules has been at the very least massively misleading, and the final selection of bands has been - with one or two exceptions - contrary to what APPEARED to be the spirit of the competiton.

Several bands and their fans will now be feeling desperately angry and let down because they believed in a 'red herring'. And many fans will already have bought tickets for these festivals in the mistaken belief that they would be seeing their favourite bands, only to find that their money has been wasted.

dymundgrrl (wrote 13 weeks 3 days ago)

i think you may have mis-understood....the fans only picked the 1st band...that was the band at the top of the chart. then 6 bands were picked from the festival chart by the judges....all on the chart though maybe not in the top 10. the only band that wasnt in the festival chart was the last wild-card band. I do admit that i dont nessesarly agree with all the judges decisions but i was never under the illusuion that their vote would be swayed by the fans

Playing.In.Traffic (wrote 13 weeks 3 days ago)

my boys win i have never been so proud
all their hard work they seriously deserved it

stormydream (wrote 13 weeks 3 days ago)

I dont get this at all. I was backing Loser Token 100%, so I'm not gunna stand here and say the rest of you are crap, coz thats not fair.

The thing I dont get is how 3 bands went through who werent even in the Chart!!

Also, the first and third band on the list went through. I think in a nutshell, the fans opinions counted for nothing. U migt as well have picked the names out of a hat.

hellybelly82 (wrote 13 weeks 3 days ago)

Enough already people. I personally think the detours really deserved to get through but the judges picked who they thought were the right mix. Congratualtions for everyone that got through. Everybody deserves it and EVERYBODY has worked hard.

hellybelly82 (wrote 13 weeks 3 days ago)

Hearts Under Fire are certainly not a heavy band and I'am so happy they got through. They are an amazing band and lovely girls.

eLliAsaUruS (wrote 13 weeks 3 days ago)

i completely agree with billythebear, lecarla and their fans have been working so hard to give them this opportunity that they deserved so much, and for what? it looks like you have picked names out of a hat randomly and not even bothered to see the talent and effort the other bands have put in like Lecarla when some who have won didnt put any in at all. but all the same congratulations

billythebear (wrote 13 weeks 3 days ago)

thought i need to just say well done to the bands that got picked, though i have been listening to music all my life and lecarla are an amazing live band with some very great songs. With this competition being what it was i thought that it would be a great opportunity for the majority to see this band in all there glory. With all the hard efforts of people on this competition to get lecarla up to the top end of the chart.I just cannot get my head around the fact that surely the hype around the chart and the bands plus the fact that they have some great music could not be recognised by the so called industry experts its a real shame as competitions like this just makes you realise they are just a lottery and not rewarding for hard work and effort by all the top bands that never got to shine.dissapointed rbbj.

eLliAsaUruS (wrote 13 weeks 3 days ago)

Well i'm glad i didnt buy tickets for download if you didnt even put half the decent bands on.....

eLliAsaUruS (wrote 13 weeks 3 days ago)

im sure alot of people agree that Lecarla should have got in this line up, they had a massive fan rating and still werent chosen which is unfair...

Claire C (wrote 13 weeks 3 days ago)

First of all well done to all the bands that got through.

Did the Judges know this was not a competition to play Download only?

They basically just picked every single heavy band.

xx

eLliAsaUruS (wrote 13 weeks 3 days ago)

its a shame that people high up on the festival chart didnt even get a chance in this competiton. i thought the fans were decicding?? well you have missed out on amazing acts such as lecarla which is a great shame..... :/
